Broadridge Announces $150,000 Donation to Long Island’s Brentwood High School PROSPER Program
Donation will help at-risk students make positive life choices, build confidence and create meaningful careers after graduation
NEW YORK, N.Y., October 24, 2022 – To help support the communities in which it serves and operates, Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: BR) is pleased to announce a donation of $150,000 to The Viscardi Center to support the PROSPER Program which helps provide at-risk students with a better chance for academic and employment success. This is the fourth year in a row Broadridge has supported this unique partnership between colleges and universities, high schools and local businesses and industries.
The PROSPER program is a nine-month, half-day high school retention program for 11th and 12th grade at-risk students. The primary objective of the program is to provide support for students to make better life choices, build self-confidence, complete high school, pursue college or vocational training and/or enter the workforce into a meaningful job, leading to a long-term career.
“The Viscardi Center is proud of Broadridge’s investment in our PROSPER program,” said Dr. Chris Rosa, President & CEO, The Viscardi Center. “Through our partnership, Broadridge and Viscardi will collaborate to educate, empower, and cultivate employment readiness among at-risk youth on Long Island, thereby creating pathways for social mobility for these students and their families.”
“As schools across Long Island, particularly in underrepresented communities, continue to face major educational and social barriers, the PROSPER Program serves a critical function in helping students understand the relationship between education, the world of work and building a brighter, more fulfilling future,” said Chris Perry, President of Broadridge. “We are proud to support teachers, students and their families and are confident that our commitment will further advance the great success PROSPER has achieved through the past two iterations of the program.”
The program functions as an elective course under the Occupational Education umbrella and offers rigorous course structure, smaller classroom sizes, stability, accountability, motivation and encouragement, as well as college and career access. Since inception, more than 1,000 of Long Island’s most at-risk students have benefited directly from participation in PROSPER.
