Postal Rate Changes

  • USPS decided to skip the usual January price increases; they appear to be close to announcing that prices will rise in the spring. They are preparing for the next postal price change to be effective April 26, 2015. Rates could increase nearly 1.7% for the market-dominant mail classes, such as First-Class, Standard, and Periodicals, which could mean a one-cent increase in the price of Forever Stamps, to 50 cents.
  • The exigent surcharge of 4.3%, intended to compensate USPS for its losses during the Great Recession, is scheduled to expire next summer, but the agency has gone to court to increase and extend the surcharge.

Broadridge will continue to work closely with the USPS to invest in technologies and solutions that will maximize postage discounts and drive down postage expenses. Over the years, we have seen a tremendous reduction in costs for our clients through mail suppression, postal pre-sort processing and printing though multiple print locations. We look forward to offering additional opportunities to reduce postal expense and enhance your client communications strategy.

Please contact your Broadridge Relationship Administrator should you have any questions or if you are interested in discussing alternative mail methods that may further reduce your postal expense.
